Kerala minister to quit over nepotism row


Jayarajan offered to resign on Friday even as the Vigilance & Anti Corruption Bureau informed a court that it had ordered a preliminary probe into nepotism charges against the minister. The petitioner had alleged that Jayarajan had appointed some relatives to key posts in public sector undertakings. Sreemathi, the CPM member of Parliament for Kannur, as the Managing Director of Kerala State Industrial Enterprises Ltd. Some relatives of other party leaders were also given key posts in other PSUs, the petitioner had alleged. The complaint filed in the Vigilance court contended that nepotism amounted to corruption.
