Musyoki said that some of the facilities in the rural areas posed a big challenge in enforcing the rule. The county has also moved in to check premises that serve as both bar and restaurants in rural areas. As part of renewed efforts on the fight against alcoholism, the Directorate of Alcoholic Drinks Control and Management has issued circulars informing residents that no new wines and spirits premises would be registered. The process had been delayed pending the passing of Alcoholics Drink Control and Management Act in the county assembly. The county government is in the process of conducting public participation before renewing licenses which had expired in December 31.
