Cord leader Raila Odinga has asked DP William Ruto to support his bid for president in 2017 in exchange for his backing in the next poll. National Assembly deputy speaker Joyce Laboso, who is also Sotik MP, and Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, a strong critic of the Jubilee government, skipped the function. Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra said Ruto should agree to one term for Raila followed by his time in office. Sumra further said it was clear that Mt Kenya's people would not support the DP come 2022.
