The Commission therefore purposed to set the limits at a fairly permissive level to encourage conformity by candidates and political parties,” said Andrew Limo,Manager, Communication and Public Affairs. In a communication to Newsrooms, the poll body said it was guided by the political, sociological and environmental framework in determining the limits. In the new guidelines, the body capped expenditure by any political party in the 2017 poll at Sh15 billion and allowed presidential candidates to spend Sh 5.2 billion in the race to State House.
