There is good reason to be gloomy about a new study contrasting Ontario’s prolonged stagnation to recent signs of revival across the border in Michigan state. Ontario’s Liberals, on the other hand, have been in office since 2003 and think they’re doing a swell job. It’s also unlikely that the measures credited with aiding Michigan’s revival could be easily relocated to Ontario. The Wynne Liberals see Ontario through the same type of self-deluding prism that troubled Michigan for so long. Yet no one doubts Ontario’s Liberals will be there with more handouts if needed.
