Instead of making dentist Peter Bevan-Baker Canada’s first Green premier, islanders opted for Dennis King and his Progressive Conservatives, albeit in a minority situation that will give the Greens a chance to show whether they’re up to the challenges of power. While admitting he was disappointed at placing second, Bevan-Baker proclaimed his eagerness to make the minority situation work. There’s no need to even start on Trump and the impact he’s had on notions of how a president should act. Conservative-leaning governments now rule from Alberta to P.E.I., with only Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in Liberal hands.
