Keith Skeoch became chief executive of Standard Life in 2015 and oversaw the merger with Aberdeen Asset ManagementThe chief executive of Standard Life Aberdeen is stepping down four years after the fund was created in an £11 billion merger. Keith Skeoch will be replaced by Stephen Bird, a former Citigroup executive, who joins the company tomorrow. He is expected to take over the role at the end of the third quarter following a handover period and regulatory approvals. Mr Skeoch, who began his career as a civil service economist, will serve out the rest of his contract as non-executive chairman of the Aberdeen Standard Investments Research Institute. He became chief executive of Standard Life, which was based in Edinburgh, in 2015 after a stint in charge of its funds business.
