Kedah DID ready for possibility of second wave of flood

ALOR STAR: Kedah Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) is ready to face the second wave of flood by November based on a forecast of continuous rains. State DID deputy director Baharuddin Abdullah said the Meteorological Department forecast that the northeast monsoon interchange in early November may trigger heavy and continuous rains. He said DID was working with other agencies to ensure excess water from upstream of rivers flowed fast to the sea. "Based on the forecast, the northeast monsoon will bring continuous rains, so our focus will be on channelling excess water as quick as possible to the sea. However, he acknowledged that if there was an unusual rainfall of over 100mm, there was a possibility that there would be another round of flood.
