An assurance to this effect was made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Thursday to the visiting delegates of the Kanhangad-Kaniyoouru rail action committee office-bearers as they submitted a memorandum seeking to earmark the requisite fund in the upcoming Karnataka budget for the project. The assurance by Mr. Siddaramaiah, who also handles the Finance portfolio, came in the light of Kerala earmarking Rs. Khader and Ramanath Rai; the State Legislative Council Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, also Southern Railway’s consultative committee member; and N.A. Haris, MLA from the State; the action committee said here on Friday. The Karnataka legislators in the delegation are said to have made assurances that they will exert their influence to ensure that the requisite fund is earmarked in the State budget.
