Former France international Karim Benzema has signed a contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad after confirming his departure from Real Madrid. Benzema became available on a free transfer after voiding the one-year extension clause in his Madrid deal. Benzema received a significant wage offer to join Al-Ittihad, who recently won the title, beating Cristiano Ronaldo's former team Al-Nassr. A tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia, Messi was suspended by PSG last month after an unauthorised visit to the country. Benzema, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner, won 25 major trophies during his 14 years with Real Madrid.
