Photo: PTINew Delhi: A united opposition served a fresh warning to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday by inflicting a third consecutive defeat in a Lok Sabha bypoll. In Kairana the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), backed by the entire opposition, procured 4.81 lakh votes while the BJP obtained 4.36 lakh votes. Members of the BJP conceded that the party has so far not succeeded in evolving a political counter-attack against a united opposition. “There is one year left for the Lok Sabha polls and we have to find an answer to contest against united opposition. By taking a back seat, SP and BSP could campaign in favour of opposition candidate Tabassum Hasan,” said the BJP leader.
