The Leafs centre has endured droughts in the past, even during the past two seasons, when he scored 32 goals in each. Kadri skated through a 12-game spell last December, for example, and when he finally did score, went another seven games without a goal. Yet, he has not been on the ice for any of the Leafs’ 14 even-strength goals. “He didn’t come in here to play with Matthews, (the unsigned William) Nylander was not here, so (Ennis) got to play with (Matthews),” Babcock said. “We think Johnny is a good player, now he has to become a good player every day in the NHL.”Ennis has one assist in five games and is a minus-3.
