more-inThe Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) will open 35 new beer parlours this year. Announcing this at a press conference here on Monday, KTDC Chairman M. Vijayakumar said with the opening of the new 35 units, the number of beer parlours under it would reach 75. He said 28 beer parlours of the KTDC that were closed down following the curbs imposed after the Supreme Court verdict and abkari policy had been reopened. The revenue from the 40 beer units spread across the State was ₹35 crore in 2017,” he said. Asked about the opening of the new beer parlours when steps were on to bring down consumption of alcohol, he said it was not against the government policy.
