In Thiruvananthapuram zone, 622 schedules could not be operated on Tuesday, while in Ernakulam zone it was 769, and 372 in Kozhikode zone. The KSRTC had initiated a series of steps to overcome the crisis following the termination of empanelled conductors who had not completed 10 years and 120 days of minimum service. The sacked conductors were working in over 100 units of the KSRTC and the effect was felt on the first day itself. The empanelled conductors handled over 1,000 schedules daily. Expressing solidarity with the sacked empanelled conductors, regular conductors refused to work overtime resulting in the cancellation of schedules.
