The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s plans to wet/dry lease 50 multi-axle buses for operation from cities in Kerala to Bengaluru will hopefully usher in a welcome change in travel pattern in the State. In dry lease, the KSRTC will have to arrange a driver as well. Subsequently, a reciprocal arrangement will be made with the Karnataka State RTC based on the number of km that buses from Kerala commute in Karnataka, said a KSRTC official. He spoke of how more KSRTC buses to Bengaluru and Chennai would help rein in fares. The KSRTC increases fare only up to 30% during festive seasons and vacations.
