Railways need to rise to the situation


While the incident has been a wake up call for the KSRTC, Railways have done precious little other than assuring a few weekend special services from Kochuveli to Bengaluru. Metroman’s suggestionsResponding to the issue, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s principal adviser E. Sreedharan said Railways could easily operate more services from places such as Shoranur and Kozhikode to Bengaluru. “This rail line will lessen the journey time from Kerala to Bengaluru by around seven hours. Sadly, it was shelved when the LDF came to power and priority was given to the Thalassery-Mysuru line,” Mr. Sreedharan said. The Thrissur Railway Passengers Association (TRPA) submitted a memorandum to the Transport Minister highlighting the harassment and threats faced by passengers at the hands of private bus operators.
