KCR in front push, Mamata silent

Picture by Biswaroop DuttaCalcutta: Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao met Mamata Banerjee on Monday and called for a "federal front", stressing the need for a " chamatkar (miracle)" the country has not seen since Independence. Trinamul sources said Mamata believes in political flexibility, of setting aside differences for a common goal. Asked to clarify her stand on the Congress, Mamata said: "Whatever Mr. Rao had to say, he has said, I fully agree. In response to a question on whether the proposed front is rejecting Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, the Trinamul chief said: "I have not, do not put words into my mouth." The Bengal chief minister is likely to attend an Opposition meeting called by NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Delhi next week.
