K-P govt extends land laws to FATA districts post merger


Board furthe­r extend­s revenu­e powers to all admini­strati­ve offici­als in merged tribal distri­ctsKHYBER PAKHTUNKHWA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government on Friday extended land laws to erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) districts, said a notification issued by the provincial Board of Revenue. 3,904 killed in FATA suicide bombings during four yearsIn a separate notification, the board further extended revenue powers to all administrative officials in merged tribal districts. In a first, this notification will enable administrative officers to collect land revenue and tribesmen to challenge their land disputes in courts under the K-P government’s tenancy act. FATA reforms: PHC moved to halt merger with K-PFollowing the notification, district commissioners, tehsildars and additional district commissioners have been empowered as district collectors, sub-divisional and tehsil collectors. Land has been distributed as per the tribal system whereby land is allocated to entire tribes instead of individuals.
