Justice department rejects BI reshuffleTHE Department of Justice (DoJ) has disapproved the latest round of reshuffles at the Bureau of Immigration (BI) that involves the designation and reassignment of 18 immigration officials and personnel. Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente made the request in a memorandum, dated July 28, addressed to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre 2nd seeking approval of personnel orders designating and reassigning the subject employees. “After evaluation of the personnel recommended through the Personnel Orders, we regret to inform you that the appointment, designation and/or re-assignment as the case maybe, …. are hereby disapproved,” Aguirre said in his memorandum, a copy of which was obtained by The Manila Times. Morente earlier said the reshuffle was primarily aimed at preventing fraternization among employees that has been identified as a major source of corruption in government agencies.
