The junior army officer who succumbed due to acute bronchitis has turned out to be negative of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), the Armed Forces of the Philippines announced on Tuesday. Gen. Edgard Arevalo, AFP spokesman, told reporters that 2Lt. Vince Magbanua’s test for Covid-19 yielded negative results, according to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. According to Arevalo, they deferred to the doctor’s diagnosis on the young officer on his cause of death following the latter’s negative results of Covid-19. “The resort to Covid-19 test is to have a conclusive finding as to the cause of death because difficulty in breathing is one of the identified symptoms of Covid-19 infection,” he told The Manila Times in a separate text message.
