Embattled deputy CJ Kalpana Rawal has told off her boss Chief Justice Willy Mutunga for single handedly varying orders issued by a Supreme Court judge. Meanwhile, civil society organizations want CJ Mutunga to delay his retirement, that is due in two-weeks time. Mutunga will have exited the judiciary by June 24, the date set by Justice Ndung'u for the hearing of the matter. Through her lawyer, Kilukumi and Company Advocates, Rawal said the CJ issued "outrightly illegal unlawful directions" over the matter. Pundits argue that there will be a quorum hitch because the Supreme Court will not have the at least five judges required to hear the case.
