Judge Dismisses Maryland Lawsuit Challenging Trump on Health-Law Enforcement, Whitaker Appointment


A federal judge on Friday dismissed a lawsuit by the state of Maryland that sought to preserve the Affordable Care Act and raised a prominent challenge to President Trump’s appointment of Matthew Whitaker as acting attorney general. U.S. District Judge Ellen Hollander in Baltimore threw out the case, filed by Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh, a Democrat. Mr. Frosh filed the case last year, asking a court to require Mr. Trump to continue to enforce the ACA, the health-care law enacted under the Obama administration.
