Ralph Northam apologized Friday for appearing in a racist photograph in his 1984 medical yearbook that showed one person dressed in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan hood and robe. Calls for the governor to resign mounted quickly, including from California Sen. Kamala Harris, a Democratic presidential candidate, the president of the NAACP, the Republican Governors Association and the state GOP party, as well as a host of progressive groups.
