The single decker bus was found in the water by Cleethorpes Pier after police and coastguard officers responded to reports it had been driven into the sea and abandoned. It appears to have been driven down a slipway alongside the pier and was discovered submerged under a metre of sea water. "After they checked there was nobody inside, they towed it out of the sea at the request of Coastguard officers on scene to prevent pollution and assist with eventual recovery. Humberside Police assisted in recovering the bus, after patrolling officers discovered the vehicle and alerted the Coastguard.
