JOHOR BARU: Johor stands to gain from the ongoing US-China trade war by luring Chinese manufacturers that will be badly affected by it. “Malaysia, especially Johor, is set to benefit from the trade war where many Chinese manufacturers wanted to escape the US$200bil (RM835.4bil) tariffs imposed on them by the United States. Both China and the United States are lock in a trade war with US President Donald Trump announcinig he would increase tariffs on US$200bil of Chinese imports to 25% from 10%, which he imposed on May 10. Meanwhile, Puah said that United Arab Emirates (UAE) have shown great interest in investing in Johor, especially in real estate and petrochemical sectors. “Fujairah is the top bunkering state in the Middle East and this is good for our petrochemical industry here.
