Johor still supplying water to Melaka, says CM

MELAKA: Melaka enjoys good ties with Johor and continues to receive raw water supply from the neighbouring state, says Chief Minister Adly Zahari. “We have an ongoing agreement with Johor and any statements that the supply of raw water had been stopped are inaccurate, ” he said Tuesday (Feb 4). Adly was commenting on Melaka Opposition chief Datuk Seri Idris Haron who was reported to have said that the people had a right to know why Johor has discontinued supplying raw water to Melaka. “Melaka has received approvals to pump water from Johor but it also depends on the availability of water in Sungai Gersik. “Currently, the supply from Johor is being pumped at a maximum rate although Melaka is in need of more water from Sungai Gersik.
