Among the injured is a nephew of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho who was rushing to check on his sister who had been involved in an earlier accident at the same spot. The first accident involved a Toyota Landcruiser carrying Joho's relative which collided head-on with a light truck while the second accident involved Joho’s nephew’s car that collided with a matatu. Joho’s brother businessman Abu Joho was seen at the Kilifi Referal Hospital coordinating activities and soon a helicopter arrived and his son was airlifted for specialised treatment.
