Mr. Trump has tried to strictly limit both. Still, neither Mr. McCain nor Mr. Trump has held back from airing their differences, often with bruising consequences. “That was not a good thing when he put the thumb down,” Mr. Trump said at one rally in June. Mr. McCain has not held his tongue either.
