Mr Jinapor said this at a rally at Damango on Monday, December 24, 2018, as part of final preparations for Thursday’s referendum on the new regions. The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia urged the chiefs and people in the Savannah area to come out in their numbers to vote to support the creation of the Savannah region saying the referendum day was a day of destiny for the people to decide on their development prospects. Dr Bawumia said the referendum was a golden opportunity for the people to exercise their civic responsibility to meet the constitutional requirement for the new region. He stated that the government was committed to entrenching democracy at the grassroots, hence the setting up of the Justice Brobbey Commission to evaluate the petitions for new regions and make appropriate recommendations.
