There was an outbreak of genuine emotion in Parliament Wednesday, a place more used to fake sentiment. Her public advocacy for female education eventually led to her being shot on a school bus by a Taliban gunman. Malala’s moral courage has proven to be an inspiration to a generation of girls and young women. Through all of this, she was relentless in her efforts to help poor girls go to school, planning just before she was shot to organize the Malala Education Foundation. The Malala Fund is now a worldwide campaign to guarantee 12 years of education for poor girls.
