England were battling the odds after Pakistan set a target of 277 on a scorching day four in Manchester. ‘It’s up there, it was a brilliant chase,’ England captain Root told Sky Sports shortly after England’s win. ‘Fantastic Test match all round and credit to Pakistan, I though they played some brilliant cricket throughout the four days. I couldn’t have picked a better partner at the other end.’The second match of the three-Test series begins on Thursday at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
