Jodie – who was at the iconic Cannes Film Festival to promote her new film, After Yang – also had a priceless family heirloom stolen in the raid as her mother’s wedding ring was taken in the theft. Reports have suggested thieves targeted the actress after she wore gold and diamond jewellery from the Gucci High Jewellery line to her premiere on Thursday night. Back in 2013, $1 million (£720,000) of Chopard jewellery was stolen from the Novotel hotel in Cannes while the festival was in full swing.
