Too many job-seekers have been brainwashed to believe that recruiters have magical powers to help them get a job. Job applicants who put recruiters on a pedestal don't realize that they also have power in the recruiter-job applicant relationship. They'll tell you to send them your resume and they'll say "I'll call you this week." Of course, there are excellent recruiters who partner with working people for decades and place them into new jobs over and over. There are fewer first-class recruiters than less-capable recruiters who give the recruiting industry a bad name.
