The Guri Local Government Council in Jigawa State on Saturday said it vaccinated over 1,000 cows against foot-and-mouth disease. He said the vaccination followed a recent outbreak of the disease in Margadu, Dawa, Kwanar Mai-Labbo and Garbagal villages in the area. “Shortly after last week’s outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease which killed 10 donkeys, the council spent over N400,000 to acquire vaccines. Isa listed symptoms of the disease to include fever, weight loss, loss of appetite, lameness, drop in milk production and blisters in the mouth and on feet.
