Jet Airways's shares fell as much as 20% in intra-day trading on Thursday after the reports that bidders showed no interest in following up on their offers. Jet Airways's shares opened at a loss of 8.68% at Rs 140, and by the end of the day's session, the airline's market capitalisation fell to Rs 1,531.86 crore. Once the country's largest private airline, Jet was forced to cease operations on April 17 after its lenders rejected its plea for emergency funds. Jet has a debt of Rs 8,400 crore which it could not service even when it was healthy. It seems difficult for anyone to restart operations and service that amount of debt.
