Grega Zemlja won 6-1, 6-2 against wild card Marvin Moeller, who was playing his first professional match. Nicolas Kicker beat Thomas Fabbiano 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 while Paul-Henri Mathieu downed Gerald Melzer 6-4, 7-6 (5). Third-seeded Pablo Cuevas beat Halle champion Florian Mayer 6-4, 6-3 as he looks to add to his titles in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Qualifier Thiago Monteiro beat Mischa Zverev 7-6 (5), 6-4.
