NEW DELHI: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles ( FCA ) India announced on Friday that bookings for the recently launched Compass SUV has crossed the 10,000 mark. While the pre-bookings were opened on June 19th, the car was officially launched at a starting price of Rs 14.95 lakhs (ex showroom) on July 31.Manufactured at the company's Ranjangaon plant, the Compass has not just doubled bookings since the official launch but has also received 92,000 enquiries - a five-fold increase since pre-bookings began.Kevin Flynn, president and managing director at FCA India , said the aggressive pricing and product featrues are key factors for the jump in both bookings and enquiries. "The response to the pricing has been incredible and customers are also drawn to the Jeep Compass for its impressive character and capability," he said.The Compass range in India starts with 1.4 Multi-Air Turbo Petrol 'Sport' 4x2 variant with a 6-speed manual transmission at and tops with the 2.0L MultiJet Turbo Diesel 'Limited (O)' 4x4 variant with a 6-speed manual transmission. It is also available in three trims - Sport, Longitude and Limited and 10 variants, including a 4x2 Turbo Petrol with a 7-speed automatic transmission (DDCT). It also boasts of over 50 safety features.The company had begun deliveries from August 6 and Flynn says production has been ramped up to meet the demand.
