Blue Jays pitcher and Burlington resident John Axford said it was a dream to pitch in front of family and friends in 2018. Axford hopes to become a mentor in the young Jays clubhouse. The Jays team he returned to Saturday is significantly younger than the one he left. “He’s going to battle for a job but, if he pitches like he did last year, he’s going to be fine and he’s going to help the young kids, too,” Montoyo said. As willing as he is to help out his teammates, Axford also hopes to push them.
