Around 2pm, IT employees at Tidel Park were told to leave if they wished to.Several schools in the city sent students home earlier than usual and asked parents to come pick up their wards. While schools did not give any reasons, parents speculated it was due to safety concerns given the tense situation at Apollo Hospitals.Schools like Sishya in Adyar and Sri Sarada Secondary School, Gopalapuram, located close to DMK chief Karunanidhi's residence, called off their classes around 11am.In Sarada Secondary School, children of all classes were made to wait in the foyer after the school decided to suspend classes for the day after the first period.Meanwhile, some other schools closed about half hour to 45 minutes earlier than usual. While most schools functioned on Monday, some private schools took independent decisions to remain closed.There were long queues at ATMs throughout the day and grocery shops were crowded as people prepared to stock up. Business happened in a subdued manner at T Nagar.
