Japanese Foreign Minister to Visit EthiopiaAugust 21, 2017 - Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono is scheduled to visit Ethiopia and meet on with officials of the African Union, whose headquarters are located in the Ethiopia. The Japanese foreign minister will arrive in Ethiopia on Sunday, August 20, 2017. A head of his visit to Ethiopia, Kono is also expected to attend a two-day ministerial meeting of a Tokyo-led African development conference in the capital of Mozambique, reports Manchi. The next year, Ethiopia reached out to her potential Asian ally when Ethiopian Foreign Minister Heruy Welde Sellase visited Japan in 1931, dramatizing the possible benefits—economic and military—of cooperation between the Ethiopia and Japan.
