Japan to continue hiring PH nurses, bridge language gapTokyo, Japan – Despite the low percentage of Filipinos who hurdle the Japanese nursing licensure examination, Japan is bent on recruiting nurses from the Philippines for training and employment under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA). The hiring program commenced with the recruitment of Filipino nurses endorsed by the POEA to JICWELS. Selected candidates shall undergo a six-month language and culture training to help them prepare to eventually take the Japanese licensure examination. The candidate-nurses are allowed to take the Japanese licensure examination three times within three years. The Filipino nurses shall be covered by a fully transparent employment contract receiving the same salaries equivalent to what Japanese nurses based on similar tasks and qualifications.
