NAGANO, Japan: Japan sent tens of thousands of troops and rescue workers on Sunday to save stranded residents and fight floods caused by one of the worst typhoons to hit the country in recent history. At least 26 people were killed in the typhoon and vast sections of towns were left under water. Another 18 were missing and 175 injured after Typhoon Hagibis, which paralysed Tokyo on Saturday, dumped record levels of rain, public broadcaster NHK said.
