Industry observers have put it as high as 80% of ticketing for live concerts. The company often uses these top acts as leverage to force venues to sign Ticketmaster agreements, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. LNE has seen its ownership of smaller music theaters more than double since the merger, to just over 200 venues, representing 5% of the market. LNE did not respond to questions about the number of shows it has put on at smaller venues. The New York Times reported in November that the Justice Department has launched an antitrust investigation into LNE’s market power.
