Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and musician Teddy Afro have joined thousands of people in calling for the immediate release of Nazrawit Abera, a 27 year old Ethiopian Engineer facing a possible death sentence over a disputed drug offence in China. He made his call on the anniversary of his Premiership, in which he made the issues of women’s right, the central goal of his administration. In the meantime, Teddy Afro has encouraged his fans to sign a petition urging China to release her. Let us sign the petition and urge others to do the same. We need to raise her cause and give it the international attention it deserves.”So far, more than 172,000 people have signed her petition, surpassing its initial goal of 50,000.
