Students demanded eviction of the unplanned shops from the campus to bring back proper environment of education. Students and teachers of the university alleged that locals with the help of university officials set up shops near academic buildings. Apart from this, locals also set up shops on Shaheed Minar premises without taking any kinds of approvals from university authority. Here locals set up nearly 12 shops, including chicken shops, salon and electronic and local people are the main customers of the shops. Dipanjon Siddhanto Kajol, president of Bangladesh Student Union, JU unit, said: “University authority should stop of setting shops to bring back its basic character as an educational institution.”When contacted, Abu Bakar Siddique, register of the university, denied commenting in this regard.
