The girl, a student of history, was headed for FC Block and had boarded the Kankurgachhi-bound autorickshaw at the Karunamoyee bus stop. The driver allegedly targeted the girl just as the autorickshaw crossed FD Park. Standing on the road, the JU student called Bidhannagar City Police's helpline for women. Samar was produced in a Salt Lake court today and remanded in judicial custody for 10 days. Residents of Salt Lake blame the police's low visibility after 8pm for the recurrence of incidents like the one involving the JU girl.
