A notice signed by Edgar Aricheta, Clerk of Court and JBC ex-officio secretary, showed that eight bets shall vie for the post to be vacated by Deputy Ombudsman for Luzon Gerard Mosquera on June 1, 2019. Sources said the front-runners for the position are Deputy Special Prosecutor Cornelio Somido and Ombudsman Director Beda Epres. The JBC is set to conduct a public interview on Thursday. The other applicants are Quezon City Regional Trial Court Judge Rafael Hipolito, lawyer Eusebio Avila, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission Executive Director Eduardo Bringas, and Ombudsman prosecutors Jacinto dela Cruz Jr. and Rodolfo Noel Quimbo.
