Now, the online portal wants to add content and entertainment to become a go-to platform for digital entertainment during travel, especially for train journeys. Ixigo has already tied up with digital entertainment platforms ALTBalaji and Khabri. ixigo has also been increasing its focus on tier 2 and 3 cities, besides smaller towns, as it looks to capture new internet users. At present, 60% of the platform’s traffic and more than 50% of transactions are coming from smaller towns and cities. Initially, ixigo was set up as a price-comparison website and would redirect users to agents or websites offering the best deals.
