Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has said it is shocking that the Azimio coalition decided to call off the anti-government protests. "It is shocking that the Azimio alliance has decided to suspend maandamano yet we wanted to finalise crushing political conmanship and intimidation in this country," Cheragei said. The Senator said whenever demos happen in the country, it comes with hooliganism and criminality. He added that one of the reasons Azimio called for the anti-government demos was to decry the Finance Bill 2023 which was approved in parliament. The Azimio coalition called off the anticipated Wednesday demos saying Kenyans should instead hold a vigil for those who were killed during the past protests.
