A group of unsuspecting fishermen were left in shock when a Great White shark snatched their bait and dragged their boat along for two miles. Thinking it was just a large Sevengill shark, they pulled up their anchor and let their catch drag the boat around while they tried to coax it to the surface. He said he had been fishing in the area since he was a child and had never spotted a Great White before. The increase in Great White spottings may be related to warmer weather, which has been increasing water temperature since 2014. Catching a Great White shark without releasing it is illegal because they are a protected species in San Francisco.
